Annette Corrigan - Director
I started my working life in universities in tutoring, lecturing, administration and research. Through 12 years in that environment, I developed a passion for clear communication because I saw how important it is to say things in ways that readers can understand. It makes sense to me as a writer to connect with my reader and get my message across as effortlessly as possible. It is now my business to help other people learn this skill. I have trained and advised people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience, including tertiary trained staff with expertise in scientific, technical and other specialised fields. When training, I love to take an interest in people’s writing and find out what they most need to know so they can become more effective writers. I just love their ‘ahah!’ moments when they see what they can do to communicate their message clearly. When I am working with managers and leaders who want efficiency and professionalism, I resonate with their aspirations and look for ways to collaborate with them to bring in the changes they are looking for. When I am rewriting documents for clients, I also enjoy the ‘clean up’ that takes place. I liken it to doing housework for documents — getting rid of clutter and messiness, letting in air and light, then sitting back and enjoying the freshness and flow. |
